The Helen Foster Award, named in memory of Helen Foster, who served as Lee County Library director from 1943 to 1947, was created in 2016 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the library’s establishment and is bestowed annually to recognize individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the Lee County Library, through acts of advocacy, service, and support. Anyone who lives, works, or attends school in Lee County may nominate someone to receive the Helen Foster Award, or may be nominated themselves.
