Ready. Set. Grow!
Aspiring gardeners, homesteaders, and heirloom seed enthusiasts unite!
A partnership between the Tupelo Garden Club, the Lee County Library, and local garden educator and designer Chasiti McGhee, the Tupelo Seed Library is honored to provide heirloom, non-GMO, and non-patented flower and vegetable seeds for residents of Tupelo and Lee County to enjoy, absolutely FREE with your library card!
Join us for a public launch on Saturday, August 17 at 10:00 AM in the Lee County Library!
At the Tupelo Seed Library, we try our best to ensure the quality of our seeds by using best practices in inventory care and labeling. Nonetheless, seeds are living organisms and individuals approach both gardening and seed saving from different levels of skill and experience. Please be aware that you might experience low germination rates or receive seeds that were not properly labeled. This is a volunteer-run project, and we do our best with limited time and resources. If you do experience any issues with the seeds you borrow from the Seed Library, please let us know so that we can address them for future users of this resource!
Some seeds shared by the Tupelo Seed Library have been grown by community members with love and care like our ancestors have done for thousands of years. These individually packaged collections of seeds may not need state germination or labeling standards. We do not knowingly accept or share any seeds that are chemically treated, patented, or genetically modified.
How to Borrow Seeds
Fill out membership form located in the Tupelo Seed Library Binder, located within the Seed Library cabinet. Your name and email address are required. When completed, turn in your membership to the Reference Desk on the library’s second floor.
Select your desired seed envelope from the Seed Library and transfer the seed information written on the outside of the envelope to your membership form.
To add seeds to our Seed Library, first read your membership form to familiarize yourself with the process. Seeds should be contained in a seed envelope with the proper information written on the outside of the envelope. Then find the appropriate section or container, and place the envelope with your seeds in alphabetical order along with the other seeds in that area.
